Frequently
Asked Questions
Q.
What exactly is the wood-block mounting
process?
A.
Very
simply, it is the process where your artwork (prints,
photos, maps even T-shirts!) is
laminated onto medium density fiberboard.
Then the edges are beveled and coated with a
patented
foil
in your choice of colors.
Q. Why
should I choose the the wood-block mounting process over conventional
framing?
A. Wood-block mounting is a far
more affordable alternative to framing.
Unlike framing, it offers complete protection against
the sun fading your pictures.
Also, because there is no glass involved, it is safe
for use in kids and other high-activity areas.
Q. How
much does it cost?
A. A quick way to
determine the cost is to obtain the number of united
inches in your artwork.
To do this, simply add the width and height of your
artwork in inches. For
example an 8x10 pictures is equal to 18 united inches.
Your cost is $18.00 plus tax (CA shipments), plus
handling and any delivery
charges.
Q. How
long will it take for my pictures to be wood-block mounted?
A. For
artwork up to 4x4, your artwork can usually be turned
around in less
than a week.
Q. Is
there any limit to the size of picture I can wood-block mount?
A. There is no limit to
the size of your pictures!
Your artwork may be as small as 4x5 or as large
as 4x8 and even larger!
Q.
Where
do I bring my pictures to be wood-block mounted?
A. Any framing shop can
process your order. Or
you may send your artwork directly to one of our locations
listed here on our website under Locations
Q. What
kind of articles can I wood-block mount?
A. Anything
flat that is no more than 1/8 thick.
Articles such as posters, charts, report cards,
postcards, art prints, calendar pictures, wallpaper borders,
wrapping paper, leaves and T-shirts may be wood-block mounted.
Q. What
articles should not undergo the wood-block mounting process?
A. Items that cannot be laid flat, and
original artwork such as oil or watercolor paintings should
not be wood-block mounted.
Q. How
do I hang my wood-block mounted artwork?
A. On the back of your
artwork, we use a keyholer to enable you to hang your
artwork by a drywall screw.
Q.
How heavy is it?
A. Due to the fact that
no glass is used, you will find it is lighter than
conventionally framed artwork.
Q. How
many different ways can I wood-block mount my pictures?
A. You may choose
from
five different styles: 1) conventional
block mounting on 3/8 MDF board; 2) float framing where
your 3/8 mounted artwork is attached to a smaller block
of MDF board.
This allows the art to appear to stand away from
the wall.
